A sports fan Paradise
While Milan is home to some of the best shopping and art available anywhere, the
diehard sports fan may be a little apprehensive about what Milan holds for them. What if filling up
your holiday apartment in Milan with endless shopping bags holds no charm? For those that do not view shopping as a competitive sport and are interested in being a spectator to a rising score rather than a rising credit card balance, Milan has a lot in store for you.
- Cycling fans have two options. The popularity of cycling in Italy is extremely high so if the sports enthusiast were to miss out on either the Giro d’Italia or the Milano-San Remo race, then the regular events at the city’s Velodrome will surely be a hit.
- If basketball is more to your taste then the regular games played throughout the season by the Olimpia squad are extremely high energy. Going to a game is much more exciting than watching it on TV in your lodging in Milan.
- Formula One is one of the most popular sports in Italy. If the racing fan is lucky enough to arrive in September, a beautiful month to visit Italy, then the Ferrari built Monza circuit will offer some adrenal pumping racing.
- Runners can view Stramilano in April. An international half marathon that attracts over 50.000 participants every year from children running a 6k to international competitors doing the full half marathon.
- Football is the leading sport throughout Italy and Milan is home to two Series A teams, Inter and ACMilan. Both teams compete against other leading European teams (perhaps yours when you are visiting) and have taken home 30 Italian titles and eight Champions’ League titles between them. That’s something any sports fan can appreciate.
