Florence is amazingly full of things to do. The size of the city is small in comparison with how much the city offers. If you have managed to find lodging in Florence near the train station then not only will you be conveniently near the station for day trips and within walking distance of the historical centre, but you will also be within walking distance of the Fortezza da Basso and its sister buildings, the Palazzo degli Affari and the Palazzo dei Congressi.

• For the fan of fashion. Whether that be for men, women or the home, Pitti Immagine puts on events six out of 12 months of the year. Huge displays of the latest in Italian fashion and the January event occurs at the same time as the incredible end of season winter sales. Just make sure to rent a Florence apartment that has lots of room if you come during the sales.


• For the art aficionado. Both contemporary art and modern artisans are fostered and nourished in Florence. If handcrafted and creative are your taste then the Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato in April and May is a don’t miss. Hundreds of individual artisans from Florence and the rest of Europe display their wares.


• For the gourmand. Varying every year, the Fortezza holds festivals of food and music. One can walk through the Fortezza, choosing between a myriad of restaurants, view the crafts of vendors from the areas the festival is celebrating and sit back and listen to the music. All while sitting under the stunningly beautiful Tuscan sky.
