A view to savor
The
vistas of Florence have been represented in art for centuries. The idyllic location, nestled among the rolling Tuscan hills, with the lazy
Arno slowly meandering through the center of the city makes for views that will both take your breath away and take you back in time. Once you have settled into your
lodging in Florence and after you have visited the
Uffizi, the
Duomo and the other standard sights that are must-sees for Florence, getting literally above the crowds and taking in both the natural views and the cityscape will give you photographs that will inspire you to return to Tuscany.
- A brief visit? If you are only in Florence for a short time, one of the most stunning views available is directly in the centre of the city. When you are in the historical centre and visiting the Duomo do not pass up the chance to go up into the dome. In addition to seeing the handiwork of Brunelleschi up close, the heart stopping rise up to the dome rewards you with a panoramic view that is unmatched within the city wall.
- A leisurely stay? If you have managed to find a holiday apartment for rent in Florence and are enjoying a longer stay, then it is worth spending an entire afternoon or evening at the Piazzale Michelangelo. With the sun at your back, you soak up a view across the entire valley that includes snow capped peaks on clear winter days.
- Off the beaten path. The best view of the city is only a short bus ride away. If you want to see the sun set Tuscan style take the number 7 bus up to Fiesole. For the price of a drink in the Blu Bar you can see the sun slowly cast a reddish hue over milky white clouds. One of the best views in Tuscany.
